In the Giants vs. Attucks game at Korakuen Stadium, an unprecedented no-hitter and no-run record was about to be achieved by a rookie pitching in his first game. In front of Giants rookie Saburo Makie, who was on his way to achieving the record, his high school rival Shinsuke Narumi appeared as a pinch hitter. Narumi was a high school pitcher who was attracting professional attention, but he broke his finger during a match against Makie at Koshien and was never able to hold a ball again.
